On Saturday night close to 200 people had gathered together in The Great Escape bar on the roof top terrace of the Projector movie theatre to celebrate Finland’s 100 years of independence with music and fun. DJ Timo Santala, organizer of the “We love Finland World Tour”, played a prime selection of Finnish music from the past 100 years to get the partygoers on the dance floor.
The “We Love Finland” party was organized in conjunction with the first ever Finnish Film Festival in Singapore. The film festival was a success and close to 800 movie lovers came to see six Finnish films, which represented the new wave of Finnish feature films and documentaries.
On top of the movie experience the people at the party got a prime taste of Finland. Thank you for our sponsors for keeping us well hydrated with Finnish beer Lapin Kulta, gin based drink Lonkero and Laplandia Vodka. And a big thank you for Marimekko Singapore for bringing in their beautiful designs to brighten up the party.
The “We Love Finland” jubilee tour is organised in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, the Embassies and Cultural Institutes of Finland in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Rome, Istanbul and Oslo and will take place in various locations, with different themes in each city.
